P2 Science, Bedoukian Research launch new aroma ingredient

Bedoukian Research Inc., recently presented at the World Perfumery Congress (WPC) in Nice, France, a new aroma ingredient called Hydrofleur™, which is manufactured by P2 Science via its patented ozonolysis process. Hydrofleur™ reportedly has a very strong muguet (Lily of the Valley) note.

Hydrofleur™ is the first commercial product to come out of the fragrance development collaboration between P2 Science and Bedoukian, which started in 2014.

At WPC, Hydrofleur™ was demonstrated as an example of a very powerful aroma chemical which can be used at levels as low as 1%  that of traditional ingredients in fragrance formulations and still reportedly deliver superior olfactive results. The session was attended by several hundred perfumers from around the world.

P2  is currently building its first manufacturing plant in Naugatuck, CT. The plant will be in commercial production in Q4 of 2018 with initial sales targeted at the flavor & fragrance and cosmetics industries. One of the first products to be made on the plant will be Hydrofleur™ which will be marketed exclusively by Bedoukian.

Based in Woodbridge, Connecticut, P2 has developed a set of green chemistry technologies for converting renewable feedstocks into high-value specialty products. Investors in P2 include BASF Venture Capital, Xeraya Capital, Elm Street Ventures, Connecticut Innovations and Ironwood Capital. The company is also a recipient of debt financing from the CT Department of Economic and Community Development.

Bedoukian is a leading manufacturer and marketer of F&F Ingredients and Pheromones. As part of the company’s growth strategy, Bedoukian seeks out new technologies to enable it to continue bringing to market high quality, innovative ingredients to help differentiate its customer’s formulations.

I think it’s time to write a special report on the global flavors and fragrance market…
