VIDEO: ECHA solicits comments on tattoo ink chemicals restriction

I find this announcement interesting as I know several people who have been allergic to tattoo inks and are looking for alternatives.

According to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), potential incremental substitution costs as a result of the proposed restriction could be valued at about €4.4m/year to be incurred by downstream users of tattoo ink in the European Economic Area.  The costs of the proposed restriction per one liter of non-compliant tattoo ink removed from the market are estimated at €60. On an individual level, the increase in the prices of tattoo inks are expected to be less than €1/tattoo (or €4 per permanent make-up).  The proposed restriction options are said to be affordable, cost effective and likely proportionate to the risk.
