Suez Environnement, through its recycling and resource management subsidiary SITA UK, is funding the research and development program of North East UK technology company, Solvert Ltd. Solvert aims to develop a technology that converts the organic stream from either municipal solid waste (MSW) and commercial and industrial (C&I) waste into biobased chemicals such as n-butanol, acetone and hydrogen. The investment will focus on optimising the pretreatment of the waste and maximising value creation from it.
