OPXBio acrylic acid update

Here’s a slide presentation from OPX Biotechnologies presented at a biobased chemicals conference in San Francisco last week.

The company said (in its blog) that it is now ready to scale up its 3,000 liter fermentation capacity to in the range of 20,000-50,000 liters over the next 12 months (translating to 600,000 lbs/year  of bio-acrylic acid) with the help of its partner Dow Chemical.

OPXBio will be offering samples of its BioAcrylic to customers under confidentiality agreements in the fourth quarter of this year.

Commercial plants are anticipated in 2014-2016 timeframe.

Read the blog’s previous post for more information on bio-acrylic acid developments.
