I haven’t seen any formal press release from either Econic Technologies or Isothane Limited but according to Econic, the companies are working on the application of Econic’s CO2-based polyols in spray foam insulation (see video below).
UK-based Isothane Ltd. is a manufacturer of products used for insulating buildings, providing buoyancy for boats, protecting bridges and reinforcing roads. Econic Technologies develops catalyst technologies that incorporate waste carbon dioxide (CO2) into polyols. The company has a demonstration facility in Runcorn, UK, to manufacture samples of CO2-containing polyols at lower pressures and temperatures. According to Econic, the cost to retrofit a 20 ktpa polyol plant with its catalyst technology would have a payback term of fewer than two years.
