Cereplast gives 1H 2013 earnings updates

US bioplastic producer Cereplast has provided a shareholder update including an overview of the first half of 2013 and outlook for the remainder of the year. Compared to 2012, revenue for the first 6 months of 2013 experienced major growth, with the expected number to top $1.7m compared to $0.2m in 2012, reflecting a nearly 800% increase. This growth was fueled by the passing of Italian legislation that will require merchants to replace traditional single-use plastic bags with bioplastic and other alternatives.
