I think I’ve mentioned before that I like posting videos on the blog. Here is another one from Braskem explaining the production and sustainability of its I’m Green sugarcane-based polyethylene plastic.
The company has been heavily promoting the bio-based plastic in the US despite challenges of low crude oil (hence low petro plastics) prices. Braskem recently announced several partnerships/collaborations with the ff:
- Consolidated Container Company, one of the largest manufacturers of rigid plastic packaging in the US, will use I’m Green PE in Seventh Generation’s 100 oz laundry detergent bottle.
- Samsill Corporation, a large independently-owned manufacturers of ring binders, business accessories, sheet protectors and decorative storage boxes. Samsill is converting its line of Earth Choice ring binders to using plastic containing 25% of Braskem’s I’m Green PE.
- Evergreen Packaging has introduced a new line of cup stock for cold and hot applications containing I’m Green sugarcane-based PE. Cup stock is a fiber-based (paperboard) product coated with polyethylene.
- Avery Dennison, a global leader in labeling and packaging materials and solutions, has partnered with EEQO, a Netherlands-based company that produces a broad range of natural cleaning and maintenance products, to use bio-based polyethylene self-adhesive labels in their packaging. The bio-based PE is supplied by Braskem.
