While I’m working on writing more posts from yesterday’s several press announcements, here is a recently recorded live stream video from the American Chemical Society Green Chemistry Institute (ACSGCI) conference, which is currently being held this week in Maryland, USA.

The broadcast featured panelists that include:

• James E. Jackson, Professor of Chemistry at Michigan State University – presented about overview of biobased chemical building blocks, the impact of shale gas and comparison between petroleum and renewable based chemicals.

• Robert Fireovid, National Program Leader at Bioproducts and Biorefining, USDA – Agricultural Research Service – presented about the USDA’s BioPreferred program and activities of the USDA in developing ag feedstock (such as guayule, waste, etc.) for renewable chemicals.

• Adam Malofsky, President & CEO of Bioformix, Inc. – presented about their strategies in the business of green chemistry, how to attract investors, and the products they offer. It is not just about bio but about CO2! Malofsky also talked about their polymer methylene malonates.

• Henry E. Bryndza, Technology Director at Dupont Central Research & Development – presented about DuPont’s renewable chemical strategies throughout its supply chain. Oh, and do you know that DuPont has already initialized research and developments on bio-isoprene (already in scale-up) and bio-THF (completed pilot phase)? Who knew!

FYI, you need to turn up your volume a little bit for this. Also this video will take about one hour and 30 minutes so better get that popcorn poppin’!
